My French 75 Cocktail Recipe

Cheers to the first day of Summer! Although it doesn’t exactly feel like summer here in the midwest, this drink will surely do the trick! Champagne is always my drink of choice and today I’m sharing my twist on a French 75, one of my favorite cocktails! A French 75 is a cocktail made from gin, Champagne, lemon juice, and sugar. I’m taking it up a notch and adding in one of my favorite flavors- Rose! This drink is inspired by a delicious rose lemonade I had down in Nashville during our babymoon 2 years ago!

Danny helped me create this recipe so I can’t take all of the credit! I did bring to him my ideas about flavor and he assisted as my mixologist to determine how much of each ingredient we needed! We researched proper methods for making a French 75 and we found out that the type of gin and champagne you use is actually very important for this type of drink! Of course you can use whichever type of gin you prefer, it is suggested that you use a gin with citrus notes.  Since we were giving this cocktail a floral twist we decided to use St. George Botanivore gin since had floral notes. If you want to stick with a citrus gin we highly suggest Hendricks! As far as the champagne or prosecco you use, it should be dry! (If you use a sweet champagne, we noticed the drink was TOO sweet for our tastebuds!) We also highly suggest taking the time to carve a lemon spiral for garnish, the oils seep into the drink and make it so yummy! The other garnish we added was a rose petal from the flowers Danny got me for our anniversary last week.  We added the rose petal for looks but quickly realized that the scent of the rose while drinking the cocktail makes such a difference and it’s actually really enjoyable to get the fresh rose smell right before you sip!
