How to get the Best Self Tan Results

I’ve been on the hunt for a good self tanner that doesn’t break, doesn’t turn me orange, doesn’t streak, and makes me look like I’ve just come home for a beach vacation for what feels like forever! (I’m serious, I’m talking like 3-4 years!) I’ve finally found what works best for my pale pasty skin and I’m going to share it with y’all to save you lots of time and money!

Products

I use two different self tanners and they are each used for different purposes the L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Hydrating Self-Tanning Water Mousse is a gradual tanner and is something I’ll apply multiple times a week to build a tan. The Body Blur is more like a lotion and I apply that for when I want a WOW moment. So I’ll use it for date night, events, or just really want a deeper tan than what the gradual tanner gives me.  This one does wash off in the shower, so it really is meant for those special occasions but I promise it’ll give you that wow moment you’re looking for.  It really does what the name says, it gives you a nice even, shimmery, goddess tan look.

Prep

This is a super important step! Make sure you shave your legs first, I love using the Billie razor, it’s super convenient and refill razors get sent to my house every month or so (you can choose how often you need refills). Besides being super convenient (which is a main reason I use it!) it does give you a nice shave and doesn’t irritate your skin, and you’re talking to the girl with the most sensitive skin on the planet, ha! While I love the Bille razor, I’m OBSESSED with the Billie Shaving Cream. Like OH MY GOODNESS. I never ever let us run out of this stuff. It smells heavenly and leaves my skin super soft! I even purchased the body lotion because that’s how obsessed I am with the scent!

Application

Self-Tanning Water Mousse

Use a mitt (super important!) pump out the mousse onto the mitt.  I do about 3-4 pumps per section (lower leg, upper leg, and arms, chest, stomach) If I’m by myself I don’t even bother with my back LOL but if Danny is home, he will help me. Work the mousse into your skin in a circular motion making sure to cover the whole surface.  Afterwards, wear loose clothing, I haven’t had any issues with this mousse transferring onto any clothes or sheets but it does feel slightly sticky until it is completely dry.

Body Blur

Use a mitt and start with a little lotion (quarter size amount) and apply to the parts of your body that you want to tan, a little bit goes a long way, you’ll learn as you go how much you’ll need on your legs versus on your arms. Remember, you can always add more, but you can’t take it away!

Face Tanning Drops

I apply these tanning drops at night because I like how I wake up with a nice little glow (but you can also apply them in the morning!) Take a small dollop of the Night Haven night cream (smells heavenly, the best way I can describe it is “fresh summer”) and combine the night cream with 1-2 drops of the tanning drops.  Massage the cream onto your face and neck.  Then, this next step is VERY IMPORTANT- stop what you’re doing, and wash your hands!! Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way what happens if you forget! It took like a whole week before my fingers weren’t stained anymore!

Happy tanning!

XOXO,

Sarah Ashley
