Mermaid Birthday Party!

Our sweet little Hazel is five years old! It’s so hard to believe! I had so much fun planning her mermaid birthday party this year. We hosted 5 of her friends at our house. We had games and activities for the girls including pin the tail on the mermaid, a piñata, crafts, faceprinting (I hired some high school girls from our church!), and they were able to dive for clams filled with pearl necklaces. I couldn’t resist this mini dip pool (it fit the theme perfect!). In the pool I filled it with these balls, 5in white and gold balloons, and clam shells filled with pearl necklaces

Balloon Garland

If you know we can’t have a mermaid birthday party without a mermaid tail balloon photo opt. I used this balloon kit and ordered this mermaid tail separately. I made one long balloon arch going from the largest balloons to the smallest. Then I attached the garland onto the wall using small command hooks– I couldn’t have been easier!

Table Setting

For the table decor for our mermaid birthday party I use this pretty pink chiffon table runner and topped it with a fish net and placed real seashells down the center of the table. At each place setting I put these place mats topped with shell shaped plates (I got mine from the dollar store but I also love THESE off amazon!), seashell napkins picked out by the birthday girl, fringe mermaid cups, pink cutlery, and shells filled with homemade macaroons to look like clams + pearls. My sister made these macaroons for us and they turned out PERFECT. I put brown sugar in the bottom of the clam shells to help stead the macaroon and it also looked like sand (win win!)

Food and Drink

We opted for a build your own plate charcuterie style. Food options included seashell shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, veggie straws, star shaped fruit and cheese, “seaweed dip” (spinach dip) + chips, sparkling mermaid punch and sugary mermaid tail cupcakes! To make the mermaid punch we add this edible glitter to a batch of lemonade! We ordered cupcakes, cookies and a cake from a local bakery. We used the cupcakes at her birthday party with her little friends and used the round cake for her actual birthday the following day. Her cake topper was the star of the show, I’ll link it here for you!

Goodie Bags

Last but not least, or goodie bags for our mermaid birthday party I raided the dollar store and party city! I found these bags from the dollar store and filled them with this mermaid good bag party pack from party city. Their name tags were also from the dollar store in the craft section.

That’s a wrap on our mermaid birthday party for our sweet little 5 year old! To see how much this little nugget has grown, check our her Golden First Birthday Party post for inspiration for a golden first birthday!

XOXO,
